Tour de France by bike

Covering the Tour de France by Bike, Episode 7: Gear winners and losers

Covering the Tour de France by bike presented unique challenges that I tried to solve with good gear. Some of that gear performed well enough that it made the process seamless. But other logistical challenges just couldn’t be solved with gadgets.

That was more of an experimental problem than anything else. I wanted to see if I could reasonably do my job by bike. The answer, in the case of a sporting event that moves over big miles every day, was no. But I sure did have fun trying to cover the Tour de France on my bicycle, even it if didn’t work out.

One of the side effects of attempting to cover this roving event exclusively by bike was the ability to test some unique gear. In this episode of “Covering the Tour de France by Bike” I go back in the garage at home to give you a rundown of all the gear I used on my trip to Copenhagen.

In case you’d rather just skip ahead to the gear that interests you, here are the chapter markers.
