Kristi Mohn built herself an opportunity. A native of Emporia, Kansas, Mohn spent years developing relationships around town. She invested in her community with her time, energy, and intellect. So when the time came to develop a plan to bring more people to the tiny town in eastern Kansas, Mohn looked at the tools she already had.
That’s a big part of why everyone who discovers gravel bikes knows about Unbound Gravel. And that’s a big part of why Emporia, Kansas has become the unofficial home of gravel. Kristi Mohn’s influence and hard work made it so.
On this episode of the Slow Guy on the Fast Ride podcast, Kristi Mohn takes us on a journey through the development of Unbound Gravel and what it has meant for the Emporia, Kansas community. Later in the show, Mohn explains how the gravel community became a women-led segment of cycling, and what other cycling communities can learn from that.
