Kelli Samuelson

In the Garage with Kelli Samuelson of LA Sweat

Founder. Racer. French Horn player. Kelli Sam wears many hats, but usually only has one laptop with her — and it goes with her everywhere because she’s always cooking up something.

Samuelson founded the LA Sweat race team, among her many other projects. LA Sweat is a women’s-only race team that seeks to expand the male-dominated sport. There’s an elite team of course, but just as importantly, LA Sweat also has a junior team that mentors young women in the sport.

It’s for everyone, and Samuelson intends to prove that women not only have a place in this ‘testosterone-soaked’ sport, but they can dominate, win races, and show the world that — duh — this is all supposed to be fun.

The team just wrapped up its team camp in Boulder a few weeks ago. Check out the report here.

Kelli joined me in the garage to talk about LA Sweat, the importance of community engagement in getting girls on bikes young, and her stint in school as a French horn player!
